“Al gir dal bughi” (the boogie-woogie chord progression) is the title of the latest album by Turin-based trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Dino Piana, born in 1930. It was recorded at Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome in December 2019 and released a couple of months ago. The album line-up is the same as that of the concert: Dino Piana, trombone; Enrico Rava, trumpet and flugelhorn; Franco Piana, flugelhorn; Gabriele Evangelista, double bass; Roberto Gatto, drums. Dado Moroni plays the piano instead of Julian Oliver Mazzariello.

Enrico Rava, the promoter of this project with Franco Piana, Dino’s son, states: “He is one of the most important Italian jazzmen, one of the most loved and desired musicians in Europe, one of the fathers of modern jazz in Italy and an inspiration for all young trombonists”.
