Alessandro Lanzoni Trio feat. Francesco Cafiso
Florentine pianist Alessandro Lanzoni graduated at the Conservatory “Cherubini”. He received the Musica Jazz Top Jazz Award as Best New Talent of the year in 2013. This award recognized him as one of the greatest jazz performers on the European level.
His musical education is the result of an intense journey developed in two directions: his “classical” studies, leading to his Diploma of Piano with the highest marks in 2012, and the study of the jazz language at the summers courses of Siena Jazz and those of Berklee College of Music at Umbria Jazz with a scholarship.
Alessandro establishes himself as a leader. He achieved excellent results in Europe, Latin America, Israel, and the USA. After listening to him in piano solo at the UN Building, with her 70 years of experience in the jazz world, Ira Gitler stated: “He shouldn’t be judged as a young musician. He is already exceptional and with every probability he will become even more so”.
An old friend of Umbria Jazz is the guest of the Lanzoni trio: he is Francesco Cafiso, and the Festival helped him launch his career when he was a child prodigy, not the renowned musician he is today. Umbria Jazz gave him the opportunity to record an album inspired by the famous Charlie Parker’s recordings by Verve with a string orchestra. Umbria Jazz presented the project for a week at Birdland, the historic New York jazz club named after Parker.
