Angélique Kidjo returns to Umbria Jazz on July 16, after her first time in 2017 with a tribute to Latin music icon Celia Cruz. That project earned her a Grammy Award, the fourth one in her career.

Time Magazine called her “Africa’s premiere diva”, and Vanity Fair wrote a monograph on her with contributions by Bono and Harry Belafonte. Besides her four Grammys, she has won an infinite number of awards worldwide, and not only music-related ones. Amnesty International assigned her the Ambassador of Conscience Award and she has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. According to BBC, she is one of the 50 African icons and one of the 100 most inspiring women in 2020.
