Kingfish is the next blues explosion. Buddy Guy’s word, and he knows what he is talking about.  Kingfish is the nickname of Christone Ingram, a big lad from Mississippi who has literally attacked the blues scene with a debut that has not been seen for some time. Predestined.  His first record, recorded in Memphis and entitled simply Kingfish, earned a Grammy nomination in the Best Traditional Blues Album category. A not irrelevant particular, the album was released by Alligator Records, the historic Chicago label through whose grooves (and then bits) the best Black Music of the last decades has passed. The president of Alligator Records says that Kingfish is “a young, visionary blues giant”. His blues has deep roots in the music of the Mississippi Delta, yet is forward leaning, supported by a mastery of guitar playing that reminds one of BB King or John Lee Hooker, as well as Jimi Hendrix and Prince.
