ENRICO ZANISI “Piano Tales”

Piano solo is a fascinating but not risk-free formula and to face it is for a pianist, especially if he is young, a demonstration of self-confidence. Enrico Zanisi can permit himself this challenge if you think that he recorded his first and, for now, only solo piano album (title: Piano Tales)  four years ago, at the age of 25, demonstrating a convincing maturity. Three years earlier (in 2012) he had already won Top Jazz of Musica Jazz  as best new talent. People soon began to talk about Zanisi as his parents are both musicians and music was a constant presence in his home. Furthermore,  there was a small upright piano and “one day – says Enrico – I decided to learn more about that beautiful piece of furniture in the living room”. His beginnings were with classical music but soon his approach to music, free, open, creative,  inevitably made him steer, with the support of his parents, towards jazz even if his first love was rock. The turning point came with the seminars in Siena: “I had no doubts, I would be a jazz player and close with power metal!”

The career of the jazzman Enrico Zanisi has quickly advanced, with collaborations with Sheila Jordan, David Liebman, Andy Sheppard, Francesco Cafiso, Roberta Gambarini, Stefano Di Battista and many others. “Each one of them – says Zanisi – has stimulated me to study and to search for personal formulas of musical expression, with the most sincere humility and greatest passion possible”.
