Pianist, composer and critic Iverson became famous in the jazz world for being a member of The Bad Plus from 2001 to 2017. The trio had the merit to renovate – Iverson’s contribution was fundamental – the language of the classic piano-double bass-drums formula. Iverson has performed multiple times at Umbria Jazz, in piano solo at the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria and in partnership with Joshua Redman. He has also played with the quartet of cult musician Billy Hart. For Umbria Jazz, Iverson has created interesting projects with the Festival orchestra, such as the one on Bud Powell and “Ritornello, Sinfonias & Cadenzas”, the reinterpretation of classical structures with the jazz language. This year, he curates the reinterpretation of Burt Bacharach’s famous songs for the voice of Dianne Reeves with the contribution of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra. The trio is also the rhythm section of this project.
