Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello have travelled most of their respective careers in tandem, in the sense that they have pedaled together, artistically speaking, towards shared goals. A long history of music and friendship that, between the trumpet player from Turin and the Anglo-Italian pianist, began in the early 2000s with their common militancy in the High Five, a band of emerging youngsters with a great future. From then on, in the many projects of Bosso, Mazzariello has been a constant presence, from the quartet (one of the best stable bands of Italian jazz) to the more extensive formation of “Duke”.

In 2014 the duo finally produced “Tandem” for Verve, which established this well-established artistic synergy at the recording level as well. The same year the Bosso –Mazzariello tandem played at Umbria Jazz Winter in Orvieto. A little later – in 2016 – the duo  inaugurated a successful collaboration with Fabio Concato. Nor should we forget the beautiful performance by Fabrizio and Julian Oliver with Gino Paoli in October two years ago in Assisi, during the solidarity concerts that Umbria Jazz organised for the Umbrian earthquake victims. Finally, the Bosso – Mazzariello tandem took part in the last winter edition of Umbria Jazz as well.
