Five Angry Men are the winners of the 2022 Conad Jazz Contest, the event organized by Conad and Fondazione Umbria Jazz that has been focusing on supporting new music careers for almost a decade. The jury “has particularly appreciated the group interplay and the performance energy”.

This quintet was born within the framework of Siena Jazz: Lorenzo Simoni on sax, Giacomo Serino on trumpet, Pierpaolo Zenni on piano, Matteo Bonti on double bass, and Mauro Patti on drums. These musicians come from four Italian regions (Tuscany, Lazio, Abruzzo and Sicily) and share their desire to test new languages starting from tradition. The quintet’s repertoire ranges from free jazz to hard bop and modern jazz.

The band will also be performing in Orvieto at Umbria Jazz Winter #29.
