Gabriele Mirabassi e Simone Zanchini
Born in Perugia, where he graduated from the Conservatory “Francesco Morlacchi”, clarinetist Gabriele Mirabassi has ranged between jazz and contemporary classical music for a long time. During his complex career, he has met with artists such as Richard Galliano, Enrico Pieranunzi, Stefano Battaglia, Steve Swallow, John Taylor, and Stefano Bollani (on the jazz side), and John Cage, Andrea Lucchesini, and Mario Brunello (on the classical one).
Over the last few years, he has built an intense love affair with Brazilian music, both in Italy and Brazil. He has worked, among others, with Guinga, Roberto Taufic, Sergio Assad, and André Mehmari. Other parts of his career involved theater, songwriting, and dance (Ivano Fossati, Gianmaria Testa, Mina, David Riondino).
Simone Zanchini is from Marche and graduated with honors in classical accordion at the Conservatory “Gioacchino Rossini” of Pesaro. He is an eclectic musician who can perform at the highest level in jazz, contemporary, acoustic, and electronic music, sound research, and improvisation. He is at ease with the Soloists of La Scala and more experimental projects. His duo performance with Antonello Salis at Umbria Jazz is unforgettable. Alongside his concert career, Zanchini teaches workshops on accordion and improvisation. “My Accordion’s Concept” is a brave project for acoustic accordion and live electronics.
