In collaboration with Umbria Jazz, conducted by MARCELLO SIRIGNANO “Una lunga storia” of music is that of Gino Paoli who, in 2019, reached sixty years of a remarkable career. Sixty intense years, during which the songs of Paoli, a leading exponent of the Genoese school that has contributed much to the scene of best Italian songwriting, provided the soundtrack to the public and private affairs of society, way of life and history of our country.

To celebrate this anniversary in the proper way, Umbria Jazz has included a concert/event in the 2019 summer edition at the Teatro Morlacchi with the title, “Una lunga storia”, a clear reference to one of the most unforgettable successes written by Paoli.

On stage will be the Perugia Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Marcello Sirignano, as well as his inseparable travelling companion, Danilo Rea, who will accompany on piano the latest unpublished work of Gino Paoli. The two artists will, in fact, present the tracks of the new album.

The part of the concert dedicated to the many, timeless classics of Paoli will instead be entrusted to three great Italian jazz musicians such as Rita Marcotulli on piano, Alfredo Golino on drums and Ares Tavolazzi on double bass. This is the same band of the concerts of the tour, “Paoli Canta Paoli”.

In recent years Paoli has regularly frequented the stages of Umbria Jazz, in Perugia in summer and Orvieto in winter. He also participated in the three days of music held in Assisi in support of the victims of the earthquake in Norcia and other places in Umbria. Umbria Jazz could not therefore not contribute to an anniversary that pays tribute to one of the most loved Italian artists.
