Luca Aquino & Natalino Marchetti
After recovering from a severe injury, Luca Aquino released “Italian Songbook” for the elegant German label ACT in 2019. The record showed Luca’s interest in the beautiful Italian songs of all ages reinterpreted with a jazzman’s sensitivity and open-mindedness. The trio included accordionist Natalino Marchetti. The duo record with Giovanni Guidi, “Amore Bello”, confirmed Aquino’s interest in Italian songs.
Luca returns to Umbria Jazz and resumes his collaboration with Marchetti and says: “Natalino plays the accordion with heart and intelligence: his a gentle, elegant, quality person and musician who is always looking for the meaning of the universe and the spirituality”.
Aquino is considered among the most lyrical and original trumpeters and composers on the Italian jazz scene (he is also the author of an interesting tribute to The Doors). His traveler spirit is a perfect metaphor for the artistic path and the expression of his stylistic figure. His passion for sound experimentation and the recordings in unusual places leads to the accurate definition of “contemporary sound explorer”. An atypical album holds a prominent place in this sense, starting from where it was recorded: the archaeological site of Petra, one of the most unique places in the world.
