Mauro Ottolini Ottovolante Orchestra “Tributo a Fred Buscaglione”
When Italian popular music (heavily influenced by Swing) first met the television, the latter was simply an electrical appliance with a great future ahead of it. This encounter was to lead to a golden age of great personalities: the writers, orchestras, choreographers, showmen and singers who contributed to the success of Italy’s Saturday night variety shows. And one of them was Fred Buscaglione. A singer whose public persona was a cross between the humorous gangster and the latin lover, Buscaglione has become a legend since his tragic death in a car crash seventy years ago. Singer and trombonist Mauro Ottolini, at the head of an orchestra of thirteen musicians, performs new arrangements of some of the beautiful compositions associated with Buscaglione and written by Renato Carosone, Domenico Modugno, Gorni Kramer, the Trio Lescano and Natalino Otto.
