The Good Fellas Gangster of Swing
Jazz is usually seen as being a “serious” music that is often complex, difficult to play and outside any of the categories considered easy listening. But it ain’t necessarily so. There is, and always has been, a type of jazz that is based on fun, puts you in a good mood and makes you want to dance. And that’s where The Good Fellas come in. A group of excellent musicians, their starting point is swing and the rock & roll of the fifties, and the musical figures they look up to include Louis Prima, Louis Jordan and also Elvis. In addition, they add a touch of the mock Italo-American atmosphere of Fred Buscaglione and Renato Carosone, and of the Italy of the time that dreamed of a mythical America.
