Unfall is a wind band: Dan Kinzelman on tenor sax and clarinet, Mirco Rubegni on trumpet and French horn, Manuele Morbidini on alto sax, and Rossano Emili on baritone sax and bass clarinet. It’s natural to think of a chamber-inspired ensemble by freely translating the traditional string quartet into a brass one. The lineup is the same as Dan Kinzelman’s Ghost – it can be considered an evolution – which was presented at the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria by Umbria Jazz a few years ago. However, the repertoire is different: it’s very diverse and combines original themes and fragments of melodies coming from different origins and re-contextualized. Artists say it’s accessible music that recalls a particular production by Bill Frisell or Carla Bley.
