VERONICA SWIFT & EMMET COHEN TRIO – Date 2021
Veronica Swift is a young singer on the rise in the crowded and competitive scenario of jazz vocality. She made her debut at Umbria Jazz in 2010 in a cosy and exclusive club setting and now attains the much more demanding stage of the Arena Santa Giuliana, opening with her trio (Emmet Cohen Trio) for Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra where he had made his debut at the age of eleven in the Women in Jazz series.
Swift finished second in the 2015 Thelonious Monk Competition, the year in which Jazzmeia Horn won. In just a few years she has become one of the most popular jazz voices in New York. What strikes one about her is her youthfulness, sense of swing, elegance and ability to “interpret” her song.
Swift was a guest on Benny Green’s latest album, Then and Now(Sunnyside) and a few months ago released Confessions for Mack Avenue Records in her name.
