“Harp vs. Harp” EDMAR CASTANEDA – GRÉGOIRE MARET

The miracles of jazz. Only this music genre can bring together Swiss harmonica virtuoso Grégoire Maret and Colombian harpist Edmar Castaneda. It is hard to imagine an odder combination, but more fascinating at the same time. It should not work, according to Billboard, but it does! The two first met at a festival with Marcus Miller, then Castaneda invited Maret to play with him in Bogotá and its surroundings. From their instant connection (maybe because they were both born among the mountains), they have recorded “Harp vs. Harp”, released on German label ACT, and toured together.

Special project for Umbria Jazz “Correspondence” – GIANLUCA PETRELLA, PASQUALE MIRRA

“Correspondence” is the name of the special project for Umbria Jazz by Gianluca Petrella (trombone, live electronics) and Pasquale Mirra (vibraphone, live electronics). It is also the title of an album for Paolo Fresu’s Tŭk Music. Petrella and Mirra have been collaborating for some time as a duo. They performed together at the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria during Umbria Jazz 18. “Correspondence” is a completely different and much more complex formula created by the two artists, including Riccardo Onori (guitars), Blake Franchetto (bass), Simone Padovani (percussions), Kalifa Kone (talking drums, n’goni, calabash), Reda Zine (guembri, guitars, percussions, vocals), DEM (live visuals, texts).
