A leading exponent of the Thirtysomething generation, among his countless activities, Emmet Cohen has had a stable partnership with new star Veronica Swift, also participating in her latest record, “This Bitter Earth”. He is young, but with an already solid career: Cohen is involved in the Lincoln Center's "Jazz for Young People" program, took part in the most important festival in the world such as Monterey, Newport, North Sea, Bern, Edinburgh, New Orleans, and performed in the most famous jazz clubs, from Birdland to Ronnie Scott’s. He won the 2014 American Jazz Pianists Competition, the 2011 Phillips Piano Competition at the University of West Florida and he was a finalist in the 2011 Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. He is also the pianist of Christian McBride’s trio, Tip City. He is Hammond B-3 organist-in-residence at Harlem's SMOKE jazz club. Young singer Samara Joy McLendon will perform at Umbria Jazz with him. She became famous in the jazz scene for winning the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, one of the most prestigious jazz events. Cohen will also perform twice a day at the Hotel Brufani (noon and 3.30 pm) with his trio, in the most standard dimension of the jazz club. Samara Joy McLendon, saxophonist Piero Odorici and other artists will perform with the trio.
