Gianni Cazzola Quartet w/ Sandro Gibellini

Gianni Cazzola can be considered “the father of the Italian jazz drum”. We are talking about the main protagonist of the Italian swing scene with more than 60 years of career behind. His professional debut was in 1957, at the age of 19, when he was asked to join Franco Cerri’s band. The following year, he became a member of Gianni Basso and Oscar Valdambrini's quintet (with Renato Sellani on piano), one of the most famous lineups of Italian jazz. Over his long artistic path, he has performed with the greatest Italian jazzmen and many important American soloists (Gerry Mulligan and Dexter Gordon) and singers (Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan). Cazzola also strayed into the pop world by playing some songs by Mina. One of his latest projects is a tribute to Fats Waller, a legendary pianist and composer of the jazz of the origins. The quartet performing in Terni includes guitarist Sandro Gibellini, a fine soloist and composer.
