Huntertones

Huntertones made their first appearance at Umbria Jazz five years ago. They are now a fun, energetic, and involving band. Just listen to their latest album, “Time to Play”. Lionel Loueke said: “I dare you not to dance or be in a good mood during and after listening to this beautiful music”. Their founders met at the University of Columbus, Ohio, but today they are based in Brooklyn. Their signature sound combines improvisation and adventurous compositions with elements of jazz, funk, soul, hip hop, rock, and R&B. They are noted for their ability to change from a trio comprising sax, sousaphone (the same family as the tuba) and beatboxing to a larger and more dynamic lineup that is capable of a spectacular and engaging sound. Why Huntertones? In college, they used to rehearse in their apartment on Hunter Avenue. Their story started from there. They are a renowned band, but their members have collaborated with Jon Batiste, Snarky Puppy, Ed Sheeran, and Ricky Martin.
