John Patitucci

JOHN PATITUCCI "Soul of the Bass" special guests DANILO REA and ROBERTO GATTO Simply one of the greatest and most eclectic bass players of our times. Orthodox jazz and fusion, classical composition and film music: there is no musical genre that John Patitucci has not frequented, pouring into it an instrumental knowledge that will astonish you. Originally from Brooklyn, where he was born to parents of Calabrian origin, Patitucci has played with an endless list of big names in jazz, from Stan Getz to Wynton Marsalis, from Herbie Hancock to Michael Brecker, and even with pop stars like Sting, Natalie Cole, Carole King, João Gilberto. A very important role in the development of his career were three small great bands: the trio of Roy Haynes, the Akoustic and the Elektric Band of Chick Corea, the fantastic quartet of Wayne Shorter. It should be noted that Patitucci, by exploiting his technical mastery, conducts an intense didactic activity, online as well. This year he presents us with a double bass recital, a very rare event that few people in the world can enjoy. Embellishing this performance even more, will be "interventions" by Danilo Rea on the piano and Roberto Gatto on drums.
