Kris Davis

Kris Davis is one of the most interesting personalities among those who emerged on the jazz scene in the 21st century. Nowadays, Canadian musician Davis, who has been living in New York for 20 years, is very acclaimed in the jazz and the most innovative music scene. Among his collaborations are Tony Malaby, John Zorn, Terri Lyne Carrington, Craig Taborn, Bill Frisell, Michael Formanek, Julian Lage, and Mary Halvorson. Born in Vancouver and raised in Calgary, Davis started playing classical piano at six but found a love for jazz and improvisation in high school. She then moved to New York to enter the world of top jazz. Within a few years, she captured the attention of critics and specialized magazines by winning several accolades: her 2016 album “Duopoly” was included in the best albums of the year by the New York Times, and the same newspaper named her album “Diatom Ribbons” as #1 Jazz Album of 2019; Downbeat magazine named her Rising Star Artist in 2018 and winner of the piano category in 2020; the same year the Jazz Journalists Association (JJA) named her Pianist of the Year and Composer of the Year. In 2019, Davis started working with Berklee College of Music. Davis performs in Orvieto with her piano solo formula, which is central to her sound research.
