Rosario Giuliani Quartet

Rosario Giuliani reached the peak of his artistic maturity long ago. He can team up with world-renowned jazz stars like vibraphone virtuoso Joe Locke. There are explicit references to great jazzmen in his sound and phrasing and the strong originality that identifies the creative musicians. This is one of the reasons he is one of the most famous Italian jazzmen abroad, especially in France, where he has long recorded for Dreyfus Records until the death of Francis Dreyfus. He has performed in China, also at festivals and tours organized by Umbria Jazz. He is greatly respected in the jazz world, as shown by the first important steps of his career: he won the Premio “Massimo Urbani” in 1996 and the Europe Jazz Contest in Belgium as best solo artist and best group in 1997. He won the Top Jazz Award in 2000 as best new talent. He performs at the most important festivals in the world, where he is considered one of the leading representatives of Italian jazz. Giuliani is a regular performer at Umbria Jazz. He has played several original music projects on the summer and winter stages over the last few years: the quartet The Hidden Side, Cinema Italia, a quartet dedicated to film soundtracks (Giuliani has worked in that genre for years), The Golden Circle, a pianoless quartet with Fabrizio Bosso, as a tribute to Ornette Coleman's innovations.
