STEFANO BOLLANI “Piano Solo”

Stefano Bollani returns to Umbria Jazz with a piano solo, one of his most suggestive formulas of his intense career. This time, Bollani will also pay tribute to the genius of Chick Corea, who passed away last February. Bollani and Corea were protagonists of a piano duo both at Umbria Jazz in Perugia and at Umbria Jazz Winter in Orvieto, where they recorded a live album (ECM Records). Stefano Bollani is not just an eclectic musician. Besides his artistic career, he has written books, hosted programs on radio (with David Riondino) and television (even with Renzo Arbore, and the recent Rai3 program Via dei matti numero 0), acted in theater (with Claudio Bisio, Maurizio Crozza, Lella Costa, Valentina Cenni).

BILLY HART QUARTET feat. ETHAN IVERSON

Billy Hart has turned 80, and retracing his career today means rewinding time to more than 50 years of jazz history. Born in 1940, drummer in Washington D.C., after spending the first years of his music career playing R&B with Otis Redding and Sam & Dave in the early 1960s, he met, be it live or in the studio, almost all the great names of jazz music. Here is a partial list: Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Smith, McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, John Scofield, Bobby Hutcherson, Kenny Barron, Paul Bley, Dave Douglas, Chico Freeman, Shirley Horn, Lee Konitz, Charles Lloyd, Joe Lovano, Mingus Dynasty, Chick Corea, and many others.
