An American in Rome. Originally from Massachusetts, Michael Supnick moved to Italy in 1986 where he is credited as one of the most influential interpreters of the jazz of the origins, between New Orleans, Dixieland and Swing. An intense activity, that of the American trumpet player, trombonist, cornetist and singer, including cinema, television and radio theme songs, jingles, records and tours (with, among others, Lino Patruno, Renzo Arbore, Larry Franco and at the helm of his Sweetwater Jazz Band ).
An artist with a solid didactic path behind him (University of Indiana, Berklee College of Music, studies with Gary Burton and John La Porta) Supnick combines the competence of material with versatility: among other things, he plays, immerging himself perfectly in the mood, great Neapolitan songs and those of Italian swing. The band that comes to Umbria Jazz includes two specialists such as saxophonist Red Pellini and singer Miss Faro, as well as two masters of swing dance, Egle Miccoli and Ilario Ritacco, who will also hold dance classes open to all.
