Samara became famous in the jazz scene for winning one of the most prestigious singing contests in 2019, the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. The best singers can hope for: a unique business card in a competitive environment like that of jazz vocalists.
Samara is from a family of musicians. She grew up with gospel music and became interested in jazz in college. Just over twenty years old, Samara has already performed at the most important jazz clubs in New York and at major festivals worldwide.
At the early stage of her career, she collaborated with the trio of guitarist Pasquale Grasso, with whom she performed at Umbria Jazz last year and recorded her first album.
Her second long-awaited album, “Linger Awhile”, was released last year, which marks her debut for Verve: the famous label that has recorded artists like Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. The album was nominated at the 2023 Grammys. She was nominated for Best New Artist.
