Umbria Jazz 2021: new big names added to the festival lineup
Umbria Jazz 2021 from July 9-18 in Perugia: new big names added to the festival lineup.
After a forced break of the biggest events by Umbria Jazz in 2020, the festival par excellence returns to Perugia from July 9-18.
Naturally, it won’t be the usual edition, but this is a powerful message of recovery and gradual return to normality, which is what we need the most after more than one year of sacrifice.
This re-start also serves to stress the role that jazz, music and culture always play in enhancing and promoting Umbria for tourism.
This will undoubtedly help the recovery of a sector which has been severely affected by the crisis.
In addition to the already announced names for UJ21, the festival will also host Billy Hart with Ethan Iverson, Enrico Rava in duet with Fred Hersch, Cécile McLorin Salvant with Sullivan Fortner, Imany Voodoo Cello, Paolo Fresu with a tribute to David Bowie,Edmar Castaneda/Gregoire Maret Duo, Cimafunk, Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Aymée Nuviola, Quinteto Astor Piazzolla, Danilo Rea, Gino Paoli & Funk Off.
Fred Hersch in trio and Brad Mehldau in solo piano will also perform at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto as part of a collaboration between the two big Umbrian cultural institutions.
