The Umbria Jazz Orchestra’s new project in Orvieto

Umbria Jazz Winter #28 includes a significant event: the new project by Bill Frisell, one of the most innovative artists of the contemporary scene, together with the Umbria Jazz Orchestra conducted by a luminary in orchestration, especially for big bands: Michael Gibbs.

The orchestra’s collaboration with Frisell (he will also give a solo performance in Orvieto) is the latest in a long line, including Kurt Elling, Ryan Truesdell, Wayne Shorter, Gil Goldstein, Gregory Porter, Vince Mendoza, Quincy Jones, Paolo Fresu, Ethan Iverson.

This project is a production by Umbria Jazz in collaboration with Società Aquilana dei Concerti “B.Barattelli”, which will be presented as part of the “Natale in Jazz” events in L’Aquila from December 28 to 30.

Giovanni Guidi and Francesco Bearzatti’s Tinissima Quartet will also perform in L’Aquila.
