Danilo Rea – Luciano Biondini “Cosa sono le nuvole”

“Cosa sono le nuvole” by Luciano Biondini and Danilo Rea is a fascinating journey along the paths of the great Italian melody and more, searching for ideas and emotions.

Born in Spoleto, with a classical music education and a love for jazz, Luciano Biondini is among the most important and active Italian accordionists. He has been involved in several projects by Tony Scott, Enrico Rava, Mike Turk, Ares Tavolazzi, Battista Lena, Gabriele Mirabassi, Roberto Ottaviano, Javier Girotto, Enzo Pietropaoli, Rita Marcotulli, the Fratelli Mancuso, Rosario Giuliani, Rabih Abou-Khalil.

The eclecticism of Biondini and his instrument led him to move easily from classical to jazz music, from popular tradition to songwriting, and from film music to Mediterranean ethnic music.

His partnership with Danilo Rea, as Bondini stated, began during the pandemic. They immediately found a natural connection despite the difficult coexistence between piano and accordion (Richard Galliano defined it as a Steinway with braces). All is based on improvisation and interplay: listen to how Biondini and Rea perform the repertoire of Italian songwriting, folk tradition and jazz standards to understand this collaboration immediately.
