Sugarpie & the Candymen are a fun band dedicated to revisiting swing and giving it a modern twist. They apply the style of jazz and gypsy jazz to a seemingly improbable repertoire that is made up of pop, rock, and even disco. Their formula works: just listen to their versions of hits by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin, or more “normal” pieces by Benny Goodman and Django Reinhardt.

The quintet formed in 2008 between Cremona and Piacenza. They stood out in Italy and abroad for their original repertoire and the ability to perform it live. As seen in the previous edition of Umbria Jazz, Sugarpie & the Candymen combine irony, originality, and good music.
