A DJ by vocation, not by choice, Riccardo Luchini, aka Ricky L, boasts 40 years of clubbing experience.
At just 11 years old, he was already behind turntables and mixers. By 12, he began his career, and by the age of 15, he was playing at the most important venues on the Adriatic Riviera—such as Vae Victis and La Villa delle Rose—hailed as a young “DJ prodigy.” He enriched his sets with live use of the Roland TR-808 and Roland TB-303 Bassline. For 25 years, he was the resident DJ of Red Zone in Perugia, Italy’s longest-running underground club and a landmark for global club culture.
A resident DJ at some of Italy’s most iconic clubs in recent decades (Cocoricò, Echoes, Peter Pan, Mood), Ricky has played all over the world—from Panorama Bar in Berlin to Amnesia Ibiza, from Pacha Ibiza to the NRJ Festival in Beirut.
The creator of the global hit and Gold Record “Born Again (Babilonia)”, he has also released music on Vega Records, Ibadan Records, Tommy Boy, Ministry of Sound, Manocalda, URA, Restricted Tracks, Reincarnation, and many others.
As co-founder and member of the duo Hear & Now, he has released three double albums on Claremont 56 and produced numerous remixes for key artists of the Balearic scene, including Cantoma, Chris Coco, Noema, and even a remix of the iconic hit “Kalimba de Luna” by Tony Esposito, released on vinyl by Archeo Recordings.
Under the alias BAFFOPIZZA, he has released a series of rare edits and remixes on JOLLY JAMS, the Berlin-based label of DJ KAOS.
He is the owner and A&R of Adult Dance Music, a label featuring collaborations with Pasta Boys, Dirty Channels, Ovasoul, and emerging Italian talents.
He is also the founder and a member of the Arp Ensemble, an audio-visual improvisation collective.
