Micah Thomas Trio
feat. Dean Torrey, Kayvon Gordon
Micah Thomas has entered the jazz piano scene by bringing a breath of novelty and freshness. His young career saw his record debut as a leader in 2020 with his first album, which he performed live in trio. Thomas then released a piano solo album with a repertoire of standards and another one in trio in 2023. He has also performed in the quartet of Immanuel Wilkins, Ambrose Akinmusire and others. This isn’t much yet, but it’s enough to arouse admiration and great expectations.
Thomas received many positive reviews from the New York Journal, The New York Times, JazzTimes, and Financial Times.
Even pianists immediately noticed that a star was born. Aaron Parks said: “To me, Micah is one of the most exciting musicians of his generation. Micah is a special one”.
Fred Hersch defined him as “one who has a unique style as well as all the tools needed to make a major contribution to the world of jazz piano”.
