Antonello Salis & Simone Zanchini

Antonello Salis, accordion and piano; Simone Zanchini, accordion and live electronics. Two very different musicians for artistic formation and paths: the first was self-taught, the second graduated from the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro. Salis is permanently, and not just from today, among the most original protagonists of the European jazz scene. Zanchini is an artist with multiform interests, ranging from collaboration with the Soloists of the Orchestra della Scala to more experimental projects. Salis and Zanchini are united by an uninhibited creative vein and by an idea of music that is difficult to reconcile with the limitations of codified genres. In their live performances (a splendid one, two editions ago of Umbria Jazz in Perugia, in the National Gallery of Umbria) contemporary musical currents cross, overlap, exchange stimuli and suggestions beyond any limiting classification. Salis and Zanchini have already collaborated a few years ago and have resumed playing together with assiduity. They (re)form an absolutely atypical duo, not to say unique.
