Mauro Ottolini & Licaones Quartet

The Licaones have been active for about twenty years and were one of the first Italian bands to propose a successful genre called lounge with original music. They mix swing, Latin music and funk with songs by authors such as Armando Trovajoli, Piero Piccioni, Piero Umiliani and Ennio Morricone. The quartet is noted for its verve and irony. The Licaones are back ten years after their recordings, “Licaones Party” and “Licca-Lecca”. Recently, Mauro Ottolini and the Licaones have recorded a compilation of their best tracks and some original songs (Azzurra Music, under license from BMG), including “Decisione”, an old song by Armando Trovajoli. On horns, Mauro Ottolini (trombone) and Francesco Bearzatti (saxophone) are both leading players on the Italian and international jazz scene. They are creative and talented experimenters, composers, arrangers, and amazing audience galvanizers. They are accompanied by two musicians who fit perfectly in this project, organist Oscar Marchioni and drummer Paolo Mappa.
