Roman-based drummer Enrico Morello, started studying jazz music at “Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio” and attended the summer workshops in Siena. Since 2014 he has been the drummer of Enrico Rava, performing in the quartet, the New Quartet and the Special Edition. At the same time, he has been a sideman, and this activity let him gain experience and meet musicians to form his first band as a leader. Two years ago, his first work as a composer and bandleader, “Cyclic Signs”, was released for Auand Records.
This lineup includes some of the most creative and valued jazz musicians in Italy: Francesco Lento on trumpet, Daniele Tittarelli on saxophone and Matteo Bortone on double bass.
“The presence of such extraordinary soloists has been of immeasurable assistance; in the end, my task was simply to define the territory to be explored and indicate the path in the most general terms. At that point, each musician was free to express himself as he saw fit. The musical outcome of the whole process filled me with surprise. I hope it will do the same for you.”
