The “Dear Basie” show comes from the idea of guitarist Delio Barone, the founder of the Swingers Orchestra. As a jazz and swing lover, Delio has decided to dedicate a concert to Count Basie, with songs from his famous orchestra’s repertoire.
For this project, he gathered among the best musicians of the Italian music scene. In “Dear Basie”, the orchestra plays the original arrangements of Buck Clayton (Moten Swing), Harvey Tibbs (Broadway, Swingin’ the blues and many others), Dan Barrett (9.20 special), Frank Wess, Frank Foster, Billy Mitchell (Blue and sentimental), Neal Hefti, Dick Hyman, Ken Peplowsky and Randy Sandke. The Swingers Orchestra is composed of tenor sax, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, double bass, and drums. Since 2002, the orchestra has been playing this fantastic music with gusto to make non-enthusiasts discover it.
