Umbria Jazz 19 kicks off on July 12, with a preview on Thursday 11 in Piazza IV Novembre and a welcome party at Ponte San Giovanni
At 9pm on Thursday, July 11 in Piazza IV Novembre, preview of UJ19. On stage Con Brio and Wee Willie Walker & The Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra.
The San Francisco band has become, especially with its live events, a kind of musical institution in the Bay Area. Formed six years ago, the band is made up of musicians from different backgrounds but with the common denominator of their passion for funk and psychedelic soul. Sly & the Family Stone are their main musical reference point.
They will be followed by Anthony Paule, the Mississippi bluesman and his Soul Orchestra who have created a partnership capable of producing great Black Music – however you want to define it: Soul, Blues, R&B – that is spectacular and engaging. For some time now the band has been part of the summer and winter programmes of Umbria Jazz.
In the late afternoon, on the other hand, a musical-gastronomic happening to welcome Umbria Jazz and the Clinics will kick off in Ponte San Giovanni, Piazza Bellini, at 6.00 pm, leading up to the concert of the Michael Supnick band.
