Dena De Rose Quartet

Dena De Rose joins the tradition of pianist/singers who have played an important role in the history of jazz, from Shirley Horn, Carmen McRae and Betty Carter to Diana Krall. She combines measure and good taste with versatility, and is the ideal jazz club performer. Musically, Dena De Rose was born as a pianist and found herself a singer after a bad mishap in her right hand prevented her from playing the piano. Later, however, she recovered the use of her hand but did not give up singing. She simply combined the two talents. In her brilliant career she has collaborated with luminaries of the New York jazz scene such as Ray Brown, Benny Golson, Billy Hart, Clark Terry, Mark Murphy. Downbeat's Critic's Poll has named her "Artist Deserving Wider Recognition" six times, and All About Jazz elected her "Jazz Artist of the Year" in 2003. Her stage quartet in Orvieto includes two talented Italian musicians (Piero Odorici on saxophone and Paolo Benedettini on double bass) and New Yorker Anthony Pinciotti on drums.
