Kyle Eastwood – “Eastwood Symphonic”
with Umbria Jazz Orchestra & Orchestra da Camera di Perugia
Kyle Eastwood was born into the profession. Now, he celebrates his renowned father by dedicating a complex and challenging project that reinterprets some of the highlights of actor/director Clint Eastwood. “Eastwood Symphonic” is the title of a new version of those movie soundtracks performed by Kyle’s quintet and the Umbria Jazz Orchestra: the orchestral arrangement is curated by conductor Gast Waltzing.
Kyle learned to love jazz music from his father, a great enthusiast, and his family encouraged him in his career as a professional jazzman. He started as an electric bass player in youth R&B bands, listening to many jazz records and attending the major festivals with his father (with the privilege of going backstage with him and personally meeting the musicians). As a result, young Kyle established himself as a bassist, bandleader and composer. He also has contributed to the soundtracks of major movies such as Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, Mystic River, Invictus, and Letters from Iwo Jima. From his debut album as a leader (Sony, 1998), Kyle Eastwood has earned a prominent place in the jazz world with his fresh and modern music, mindful of the tradition and the great jazzmen of the 50s and 60s, but perfectly set in his time.
